PADI Open Water Diver

The PADI Open Water diver certification is our entry level course, during which you'll learn the fundamental skills and knowledge, to allow you to safely scuba dive in open water down to a maximum of 18m.

When you successfully complete this fun filled course you and your buddy will be able to explore and discover the many wonders of the underwater world. All your hard work will have earned you a PADI Open Water Diver Card that is acceptable world wide!

What You Will Learn

Five knowledge development sections, using your own Open Water Manual and DVD. This independent study you may complete in the comfort of your own home. The subsequent knowledge reviews and classroom sessions are designed to reinforce learning and are a great place to ask questions.

Five pool sessions allow you to master the basic skills that you will take with you on all your future diving adventures.

Four Open Water dives, done over 2 days with an instructor, demonstrating the skills you have learnt. These dives can be done on a Big Blue trip or you have the option of taking what you've learnt, and completing the course at a destination of your choice. We'll even help you find a dive centre, if you let us know your preferred location.

On successful completion of the course you earn a PADI Open Water Certification Card, with is valid for life and is recognized around the world.

How Do You Get Started

As long as you are 12 years (10-11 at the instructors discretion) or older and in good physical condition, you can enroll in a PADI Open Water Diver course. Sign up for your class, grab your bathing suit and get ready for FUN!

Course Setup

  1. Self Study
  2. Theory lesson (approximately 10 hours - regularly scheduled on Saturday & Sunday afternoons or we can adjust to your schedule)
  3. Confined water training (approximately 8 hours - regularly scheduled on Saturday & Sunday mornings or to your schedule)
  4. Open Water Practice (4 dives)

Our Price

Full course package (theory, confined water, open water dives)

  • Qiandao Lake: RMB 5880 - This is the best diving option within driving distance of Shanghai
  • Anilao, Philippines: RMB 5530 (doesn't include flight ticket) - Including student discount, if you prefer to complete your course on this overseas trip
  • Jinshan Bay: RMB 5000 - If you cannot afford to spend a weekend away

Theory and Confined water package (the open water dives can be done on referral)

  • Comprehensive Theory and Confined water only: RMB 3400* or
  • Confined water only (with a completed course): RMB 2580* (excluding e-learning fee)

Optional extras

  • If you wish to redo a particular section of the theory or confined sessions RMB 415/session
  • If you require a Crew Pack only for self-study or as a gift RMB 827
  • Has it been a while since your last dive? Scuba review with an instructor RMB 800
  • Scuba review without an instructor RMB 300 (including equipment)

* Our charges aim to be all-inclusive, without any hidden costs. The charge includes all text books, instructor fees, equipment usage, training facility fees. Also including in the trip fees are the transportation, accommodation, all meals, bottled water. Trip insurance is included on all Big Blue trips.

  2. Submit copies of your passport/ID card for travel insurance
  3. Pay the course training fees
