FAQ

How does the IDC differ from the Divemaster course?
While the Divemaster focuses on assisting and guiding, the IDC focuses on teaching. You will learn how to lead a course from start to finish and certify new divers.
Is the course physically demanding?
The IDC requires a good level of water confidence and endurance, as you are expected to be a role model for your students. While it's not an athletic competition, you should be comfortable performing repetitive skills and managing equipment in a professional manner.
What happens if I don't pass the exam on the first try?
We provide extensive support and “re-training” sessions. If a specific skill or exam section is not met, the Course Director will provide targeted coaching until you reach the required standard.
What is the most challenging part of the IDC?
For most, it's the transition from 'doing' to 'teaching'. You'll be challenged to break down complex skills into simple steps and provide constructive feedback. Our Course Director will guide you through this mental shift with patience and professional coaching.
How much time should I dedicate to self-study?
The IDC is intensive. We highly recommend completing the PADI eLearning modules and reviewing the Instructor Manual well in advance. This allows you to focus on practical application and coaching techniques during the course.
Do I need to own a full set of professional gear?
You should have your own basic essential gear (mask, fins, computer). For other professional equipment, we provide high-quality rentals, but owning your gear is recommended for better familiarity and comfort during the training.
Can I work anywhere in the world after this?
Yes. PADI is the most recognized brand in the industry. Your certification is a global passport, allowing you to apply for jobs at dive centers worldwide.
Is the IDC only for those who want a full-time career?
Not at all. Many of our candidates take the IDC to enhance their professional skills, gain a deeper understanding of diving, or simply to have the qualification to lead their friends and family on dives.
How soon can I start teaching?
Once you pass the PADI exams and receive your certification, you are officially an Open Water Scuba Instructor and can begin teaching the PADI Open Water course immediately.
